hey John, great site you have here, just stumbled upon it. Love the idea of applying guru techniques to modern markets, but then again I’m biased as I like to do the same thing. However, I focus a bit more on hedge fund managers (Einhorn, Mandel, etc) who still have an activist bent. It’s interesting to compare the likes of a Graham methodology to modern manager strategies who are putting their own twist on value investing. That’s why we started our hedge fund portfolio tracking series which you can check out here: http://www.marketfolly.com/2009/08/hedge-fund-portfolio-tracking-second.html
We track 40+ prominent funds and actively seek to examine their investment styles and how they relate. So, upon reading your site, I found it intriguing how each investor all essentially learned their trade from the basics set forth by the ‘greats’ in the niche, but they’ve applied their own spin on things.
At any rate, just wanted to say hello and pleased to make the acquaintance. I look forward to reading your insight and research going forward. Keep up the good work!
